We differ from many breeders in that we feel the quality of a pet
bird is determined by many factors. Just like a showdog, traits exhibited in parents are passed on to the progeny.
The best way to reproduce these tendencies is to breed for them. We look for speaking ability, color, disposition and
more in our breeding stock. In order to insure these qualities, many of our pairs are second or third generation birds retained
from our own hand raised babies as part of our breeding program.
We do not parent hatch our baby
birds. All eggs are incubated by us in our incubators. Just as a child can hear voices of their parents and other
people prior to birth, our babies hear our voices throughout development. The first sounds they hear, the first
touch they feel, and the first thing they see when their eyes open are humans. As a result, they think they
are little people.
We hand feed only the best hand feeding diet. When we started breeding, there were no commercial
hand feeding formulas. Then, our "babyfood" was all hand made from ingredients from the grocery store. Now,
many commercial diets are available. Our babies are hand fed throughout the day for proper health, physical and
psychological development.
Many breeders "force wean" their babies. We do not. We
let ours wean when they are ready. We gradually introduce our own diet of seeds, pellets, fresh fruits and vegetables,
and a boiled diet which includes varieties of beans, peas, corn, legumes and more developed specifically to meet the nutritional
requirements of parrots. We also supplement with vitamins, minerals and trace elements necessary for good health.
All of our babies are played with daily by the whole family...including our sons. When you adopt
one of our babies, you are adopting a a baby that is used to being with a family. There is no better
way to raise a baby than take it into your family as a member.
